Environmental Product Declarations (EPD’s)

Both the CA Twin-Therm® and CA River-Therm® building envelope systems manufactured and supplied by CA Group have been covered by independently assessed Environmental Product Declarations (EPD’s) for more than 10 years. These system EPD’s are used to calculate all unavoidable CO2e emissions that come from the manufacture, installation, operation and disposal of CA Group cladding systems on a cradle-to-cradle basis (with options) and are periodically reviewed and updated as we continually develop & enhance our systems, whilst also working closely with our entire supply chain to further improve / streamline our processes in a bid to persistently deliver embodied energy and carbon reductions.

Calculations

All EPD’s are calculated in accordance with EN 15804 and are independently verified in accordance with ISO 14025.

Confidex® Sustain Guarantee Carbon Neutral Building Envelope

In addition to the CA Group Complete Assurance Guarantee for the entire cladding system, the external weather sheets of the roof & wall cladding systems (manufactured from Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® & Colorcoat Prisma®) are supplied with the Confidex® guarantee from Tata Steel, which covers corrosion of the factory cut edges for a period of up to 40 years as standard.

As a light enhancement, the standard
Confidex® guarantee can be upgraded to the ‘Confidex Sustain® guarantee’. This combines all of the durability benefits of the traditional Confidex® guarantee but would also provide the client / building owner with a CarbonNeutral building envelope system from day one. This guarantee is only available through Tata Steel, who have full traceability and composition information for all elements of the pre-finished steel and all cladding systems supplied by CA Group. In order to provide the Confidex Sustain® guarantee, Tata Steel as a recognised EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) provider, assess all components utilised within the complete building envelope systems that are supplied by CA Group (on an individual project basis), and generate the associated Environmental Product Declarations in line with BS EN 15804 ‘Sustainability of Construction Works. Environmental product declarations. Core rules for the product category of construction products’.

These independent system EPD’s are used to calculate all unavoidable CO2e emissions from the CA Group cladding systems (inclusive of all fixings, sealants and insulation) on a cradle-to-cradle basis, which consists of emissions during manufacture, installation, use and end of life. The resulting impact of these unavoidable CO2e emissions pertaining to the building envelope system are then offset through robust, reliable and fully traceable processes for investing in climate friendly projects underpinned by the CarbonNeutral Protocol. Sustainable Roofing, Cladding and Facade systems

“Net Zero” is the current buzz word throughout the construction industry, and as such the ‘embodied carbon’ or ‘recycled content’ within new construction materials and products is under scrutiny, with the perception that components manufactured with lower embodied carbon, or greater quantities of recycled content are more sustainable. Yet a better understanding of the picture is essential when choosing products.
