CA Group was established on the 9^th August 1983 by Henry Agnew, Neville Colegrove, Bryan Atkinson and Richard Crane as CA Roofing. Starting life as a roofing and cladding contractor the business quickly progressed to introduce manufacturing as well as the design and installation of industrial roofing and cladding systems. During the 1980s the company grew by expanding into manufacturing and designing industrial roofing and cladding systems.

Initially based in a small unit on Copeland Road Industrial Estate, Evenwood, CA Group expanded as demand for large industrial buildings rose in the late 1980s and 1990s. The workforce now exceeds 230 employees, with over 160 based at the Copeland Road site.

In December 2006, CA Group became an Employee Benefit Trust (EBT), making employees the business owners. Although the original founders no longer hold directorships, Henry and Neville remain involved as trustees. The company actively supports the local community through various projects, societies, and schools, and provides employment and apprenticeship opportunities for County Durham residents.
