Division: CA Contracting
Responsible to: Estimating Manager
CA Group Ltd requires an Estimator within their CA Contracting Division. The individual will require creativity to assess the quotation specification and formulate the most cost-effective solution. The ideal candidate will take great pride in their work, possess a strong commercial focus and be a team player.
Job Summary / Key Responsibilities:
> Establish and develop close working relationships with clients, architects, contractors
> Prepare detailed estimates by reviewing all information required to formulate accurate project costings with attention to detail paid to all sections
> Review and preparation of tender documents, such as project quotations to the client & suppliers
> Present prepared estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information
> Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications & in house project drawings
> Responsible for estimating the total project cost, including design, procurement, manufacture and delivery in line with the tender documentation while clearly highlighting any discrepancies
> Strive to retain existing clients and ensure the maximum longevity of your relationship with the Company through proactive contact and appropriate relationship development
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
> A minimum of three years’ experience within a similar role
> Experience liaising with architects and main contractors
> Excellent commercial awareness
> Excellent analytical skills
> Good communication, influencing and negotiation skills
> Experience within the Roofing and Cladding industry would be beneficial although not essential
Department: Human Resources Department
Responsible to: HR Manager
Job Summary/Key Responsibilities:
> Support in the delivery of the company People Plan
> Deliver a high-level HR service to support the business through continued growth
> Support the business in growing robust and effective HR processes and procedures
> Handle HR queries on HR policies and procedures, employment law and employee relations issues
> Provide professional advice, coaching and support to managers in line with company policies and procedures
> Development of job descriptions, skills matrices and person specifications
> Support the recruitment process by sourcing high caliber candidates for interview
> Provide support to Managers as part of the interviewing panel and ensure the smooth running of the recruitment process
> Support and coach Line Managers with probationary and appraisal processes to ensure that all are completed within the agreed timescales
> Support and coach Line Managers to identify training and development requirements through job analysis and appraisal processes
> Support the daily management of the Company’s time and attendance system including weekly and monthly timesheet processing
> Provide statistical reporting and insight on staff turnover, sickness, absence and time-keeping
> Attend disciplinary and grievance meetings when required
> Liaise with the Company’s Employment Law Solicitors when required
> Managing sickness absence, holding welfare meetings and arranging occupational health referrals
> Support with the development and updating of HR policies to ensure the business continues to meet its legal requirements and continue to support its colleagues
> Take the lead on projects as required by the business
> Take the lead on HR reporting as required by the Company
> Improve the capability of the management team to enable them to deal with queries and issues relating to performance, attendance and timekeeping
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
> CIPD Level 5 qualification is desirable
> Previous experience within a generalist HR role is essential
> Knowledge of employment law
> Previous experience of the utilisation of the apprenticeship levy is desirable
> Ability to take on responsibility and ownership within the role
> Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
> A can do, proactive attitude is essential within this varied role

Department: Production
Responsible to: Production Supervisor
Key Responsibilities:
> Set and operate Press Brake
> Load and unload metal on to machine using overhead cranes
> Set machines to pre-determined machining setups and tooling requirements
> Production of first-off sample, prepared for initial inspection
> Adjust CNC settings when required
> Change tooling heads
> Coach / Train labourer
> Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed correctly
> Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality
> Assist in housekeeping
Knowledge, skills and experience:
> Ability to work in a team
> Understanding H&S in production environment
> Good knowledge of press brake operation
Department: CA Roofing Services
Job Summary/Key Responsibilities
> Preparing and agreeing valuations with clients and ensuring payments are received in accordance with subcontract agreements
> Preparing accurate take off of material quantities from drawings
> Follow procedures to ensure proper allocation of job cost
> Pricing of contract variations
> Preparing subcontractor payment certificates, calculation and allocation of subcontractor payments and updating spreadsheets accordingly
> Assist in the control of supply chain ensuring full visibility of liabilities
> Issue of subcontract enquiries, comparison of quotes, undertake negotiations and placing of comprehensive orders
> Contribute to the formulation of monthly financial reports
> Negotiation and agreement of final accounts with main contractor QS
> Cash flow forecasting across all contracts to project company turnover
> Liaising with estimating, design, purchasing and contracts teams to ensure any changes and potential cost overspends are identified as soon as practicable, ensuring costs are recovered and future overspends avoided wherever possible
> Working with the Commercial Manager to provide cost control and reporting on individual contracts, as well as overview and cost management of all contracts for CA Roofing Services division
> Supervision and training of Assistant/Trainee QS
> General administration duties as required
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
> Confident personality with the ability to communicate across all disciplines and at all levels within the organisation
> Previous experience of working for a specialist sub-contractor essential
> Cladding knowledge preferred
> Pro-active, flexible approach with an ability to work to deadline
Department: CA Building Products
Responsible to: Department Supervisor
Responsible for: A Sheet Metal Worker reports to the Department Supervisor and is responsible for fabricating and assembling sheet metal products
Job Summary/Key Responsibilities
> Setting up and operating fabricating machines to cut, bend and straighten sheet metal
> T.I.G. welding of aluminium and stainless steel
> M.I.G welding of mild and galvanised steel
> Working with materials 1mm to 6mm thick
> To read and correctly interpret engineering drawings
> Development and pattern making
> Drilling and punching
> To work to deadlines to meet customer requirements
Knowledge, Skills& Experience
> Understanding of machine capabilities
> Understanding of machine tolerances

> Implementation of procedures as set out in the Site Manager’s Site Safety Pack
> Implement Method Statements and ensure the work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety Regulations
> Monitoring safety standards on site and action as required
> Co-ordination and distribution of materials from date of shipment through to site installation
> Inspect and check that all deliveries are complete and free from damage, delivery tickets and orders check/sign off are complete
> Producing, maintaining and issue of daily records including obtaining of site instructions and day works accordingly including the recording of delays/hold up’s etc
> Monitor on site progress versus programme and action as required to maintain progress in line with programme period
> Site adopting/creating systems of work and preparation to enable a more efficient utilisation of labour plant and materials
> Organising and controlling of sub-contract labour including dealing with payments and disciplinary matters
> Controlling plant and materials including costs
> Ensuring high standards of workmanship and good housekeeping are achieved at all times
> Ensuring works are completed, de-snagged and handed over as works progress
> Ensuring the works are installed and completed in accordance with the specification, the relevant QA procedures
> Implementation and control of site QA procedures
> Attend meetings with the main contractor/client such as, programme, co-ordination, safety etc
> Ensuring Client satisfaction is maintained and enhanced

Summary of Health and Safety Responsibilities
> Will have a delegated duty and be directly responsible for the implementation of the organisation’s General Policy on Safety, Health and Environment, within all construction activities undertaken by CA Roofing Services
> Will have a good understanding and work to the structure of the site health and safety files
> Will personally develop and promote a safety culture and philosophy, which permeates into all activities undertaken and reaches all personnel involved in them
> Will make channels of communication available to employees and sub-contractors so that safety, health and environment issues can be discussed and understood to ensure that stipulated systems of work are implemented e.g. verbal contact or formal meetings
> Will ensure that all employees and subcontractors are competent and adequately trained to perform the tasks they will undertake, identifying training needs and arranging for them to be met and to gather in evidence of this training
> Will ensure that all activities are covered by Method Statements, and safe systems of working, periodically reviewing each system for accuracy and content
> Will monitor fire precautions in the area of control and ensure adequate arrangements for fire safety are made for any site work undertaken. Will ensure that employees and subcontractors know what actions to take in the event of fire
> Will ensure that the arrangements made for first aid provisions are appropriate to the hazards and risks involved and have been brought to the attention of all employees and sub-contractors
> Will ensure that adequate welfare facilities are provided for all employees and subcontractors under control, where appropriate, by arrangement with the client / principal contractor
> Will ensure that all assessment duties, i.e. Risk, COSHH, Noise, Manual Handling, etc. have been undertaken and the necessary follow up actions taken, with relevant information provided to employees
> Will investigate and report on all accidents and dangerous occurrences in the area of control and ensure all are recorded and reported as appropriate
> Will ensure that all projects are carried out in compliance with legislation applicable to construction sites (CDM, etc)
> Will ensure that any sub-contractors used are adequately assessed for competence and their performance monitored to ensure that they work to their declared method statement and risk assessment
> Will ensure that all items of plant, machinery and equipment receive appropriate maintenance and the necessary records kept, including all items of portable equipment used on site and in the office
> Will ensure that a safe working environment is maintained in all areas under control
> Will take photographic evidence and upload, of all installations
> Will ensure adequate provision for health and safety within estimates
