Secured by Design works with the industry and test houses to create high-level security standards, responding to trends in crime, and has given input on several key standards. The principles of the scheme have been proven to reduce the risk of crime and the fear of crime.
To become enrolled into the “SBD” scheme, it is necessary to have suitably certified products that comply with the appropriate standard. As a member of the “Secured by Design” scheme, CA Twin-Therm® and CA River-Therm® are now official ‘Police Preferred Specifications’ and can be incorporated into all SBD projects and schemes.
In January 2019, Issue 8 of security certification standard LPS 1175 came into effect. One of the more substantial revisions to the standard to date, LPS 1175: Issue 8 has been devised to improve the testing guidelines for security products, enabling a far more realistic scope for security ratings.
In collaboration with the Building Research Establishment (BRE), CA Building Products’ (CABP) industry-leading CA Twin-Therm® and CA River-Therm® roof and wall cladding systems have been subject to extensive physical attack testing in accordance with LPS 1175, marking them as idea Secured By Design architectural choices for commercial, industrial, retail and other projects.
LPS 1175 Security Ratings are derived by the ability of the system to withstand sustained attack by experts, utilising a specific range of tools and accessories. As an industry first, specific versions of CA Twin-Therm® have been successfully certified up to SR2 security rating, with CA River-Therm® achieving SR1.
