Our roof and wall cladding systems can contribute towards Mat 01 Life Cycle Impacts, Mat 03 Responsible Sourcing of Materials and Mat 04 Insulation sections in the materials category of BRE Environmental Assessment Methodology (BREEAM) as detailed below:
Mat 01 Life Cycle Impacts
Depending on the system of choice the Twin-Therm® and River-Therm® cladding systems fall into the following classifications defined in the BRE Green Guide to Specification;
Independently assessed Environmental Product Declarations (EPD’s) are also available for both the Twin-Therm® and River-Therm® roof and wall cladding systems (for systems involving coated steel external sheets only). The data published for each assessed system is based on a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) study conducted in accordance with the international standard ISO 14040-3.
Mat 03 Responsible Sourcing of Materials
All CA Building Products' roof and wall cladding systems are supplied under the CA Group ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) & ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) certification. In addition to CA Group certification, all coated steel products (internal liners and external sheets) are covered by BES 6001 (Very Good) certification.
Given the omission of insulating products within this category (see below BREEAM extract), these components account for approximately 89% of the roof / wall element.
“The responsible sourcing of material used for insulating the building fabric and services is assessed as part of BREEAM issue Mat 04 Insulation. Therefore insulating materials are not assessed as part of this issue.” BREAM New Construction Non-Domestic Buildings Technical Manual SD5073 – 2.0:2011.
Mat 04 Insulation
All CA Building Products' roof and wall cladding systems are insulated using man-made mineral fibre (MMMF) and our Therma-quilt glass fibre insulation, used in the standard assemblies, achieves the following rating in the BRE Green Guide to Specification;
Therma-quilt insulation is produced from fine, non-combustible (Euroclass A1 to BS EN ISO 13501-1), inorganic glass wool – defined as mineral wool in BS 3533, bonded with a thermo-setting resin. Therma-quilt is made from natural materials and recycled glass. It is CFC and HCFC free and recognised as ‘inherently having a zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) & zero Global Warming Potential (GWP). The thermal conductivity of Therma-quilt insulation is 0.040W/mK.
Supplied as an integral part of the Twin-Therm® and River-Therm® roof and wall cladding systems, Therma-quilt is also covered by the CA Group ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) & ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) certification.
